Make Up | Face Lace DIY

Face Lace is one of those trends that looks stunning but will cost you for its fifteen minutes of tendyness.
So, instead, why not do what I did and coerce your flatmate into doing it on you (thank you Kiran!).

Intricate though it may look, it most certainly is not that difficult to recreate.

Here is how I did it:

  1. For a flawless base, I applied Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20 all over the face and concealed blemishes and dark circles with Garnier's roll on concealer
  2. Next, I pulled up a picture of Face Lace's 'Mehndoodle' design and used it as inspiration for the design
  3. For the actual drawing I went straight in with my trusty L'oreal gel eyeliner and used the brush that comes with the pack as well as a fine liner brush from Tarte that came with the purchase of their gel liners
  4. WARNING: Step 3 takes time and you may get it wrong a couple of times. But stick with it and the end result is prefect! Keep makeup wipes and your concealer at hand!
  5. I winged out the eyes using the same gel liner and added lots of Sephora's volumising mascara
  6. To add some colour to the face I used Tarte's Amazonian Clay blush in 'blushing bride' (!)
  7. Finally, to add some vibrancy I used a mixture of Nars Velvet Lip Pencil in Cruella and Mac's Lip Pencil in Currant

The result is so unusual and striking, and paired with the wintery lips, looks absolutely stunning!

If you have a masquerade ball, birthday party or are simply hitting the town, this look is sure to attract the right kind of attention! For those of you less keen to don this outside of your apartment  leave a comment below and I will be happy to create a more wearable alternative!

Face Lace is available exclusively at Harvey Nichols, with prices ranging from £13.95 - £47.95.

If you ask me, I would just prefer to spend an extra few minutes and decorate my face with an intricate pattern of my own design using the eyeliner I already own!
