Roll Up Ankle Cuff

Rolling up those "trouser cuffs" draws attention to the shoes, it's as if they're saying "look at me, look at me!"

Spring Trends '12 PtII

Lace Gowns
Long, sheer, and dressed up with embroidery and dainty lace - a personal fave!
From left to right: Erdem, Julien Macdonald, Badgley Mischka, Temperley London

Cold Shoulder
Exposed shoulders are having a moment. We spotted them everywhere from draped dresses to jackets and tops.
From left to right: Temperley London, Ralph Lauren, Zac Posen, Carlos Miele

One Shoulder
Asymmetric draping added interest to eveningwear.
From left to right: Aquascutum, Carlos Miele, Antonio Marras, Chadwick Bell

Roaring '20s
The spirit of the jazz age, captured in drop-waist dresses and deco detailing.
From left to right: Alberta Ferretti, Etro, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci

Tangerine Dreams
High-octane orange ruled the runways.
From left to right: Sachin + Babi, Doo.Ri, Rebecca Minkoff, Derek Lam

Black and White
White looked super-crisp, especially when accented with bold black lines. Really digging the Gareth Pugh look which gives out this futuristic vibe.
From left to right: Rue du Mail, Carolina Herrera, BCBG, Gareth Pugh

Super Gloss
Iridescent, metallic, pearl, and lots of sparkle.
From left to right: Theyskens' Theory, Diesel Black Gold, Marc Jacobs, Custo Barcelona

Peplums
Waist flares made appearances on jackets, tops, skirts, jumpsuits, and dresses.
From left to right: Cushnie et Ochs, Karen Walker, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu

Blue Print
Tonal blues and blacks gave a moody edge to delicate florals. Loving the play on gradients of blues.
From left to right: Erdem, Alexander Wang, Band of Outsiders, Jason Wu

Pleats
Pleats in every form — especially accordion and delicate plissé — were prominent.
From left to right: Chloé, Lanvin, Akris, Dior

Spring Trends '12 Pt. I

I really should have done this for every season since I started blogging, but what I have come to realise after going through my archive of pictures is that all the trends that are IN now, have already been in a few years ago. Most trends that have come and gone are doing a full circle and are coming back again. Obviously there are some trends which will remain in their seasonal spot e.g. florals for spring but the interesting thing is to see whether new trends for this spring will reappear next year... We shall have to wait and see! But for now, here's my list of favourite trends coming up this season:

Doily Lace
Cut-out floral patterns and large-scale lace was everywhere as expected for the ultra feminine look.

DIY: Dannijo-esque Nacklace

If you have any cheap jewellery lying around that is starting to decolour, this is a great way to revamp your jewellery at minimal cost! Just use any polish you have lying around and get painting!

Topshop Unique FW 12

Oversize/Grunge/Utility is how I would describe the collection and the jackets this season is what is doing it for me, perfect for draping (!).  The jumper in the top left, I NEED IT. The texture and pattern of reptile skin with the combination of the bouffant sleeves and stiff textile is exactly what I have been looking for (subconsciously...). I just adore that dark army green.

Oscars Best Dressed List

From Top to Bottom, Left to Right:

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
Stacy Keibler in Marchesa
Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli
Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab

I have Surprised even myself that the black gowns haven't appeared on my list of best dressed! I guess it means I am making progress with my mission "black-out". It is surprising that the stylists or the actress herself chose to wear red on the carpet, especially when I learned from Rachel Zoe that she avoids red on red carpets as it doesn't photograph very well and clashes with the background... I guess the pro got it wrong this time because Michelle Williams and Emma Stone were killing it on the red carpet in RED! Stacy Keibler looks like the female version of the Oscar awards they hand out (if there was one)! The way that dress is dripping off her like molten gold, WOW! As for Rooney, it is so refreshing to see her in such a feminine outfit, that Givenchy dress makes her look like an angel! I love her make up, she looks like a geisha with her alabaster skin. The simplicity of Gwyneth's dress is what caught my attention, it seems like it's the dress that SHOULD follow on from her Harper's Bazaar  magazine cover. Milla, omg, in Rachel Zoe's word, SHE IS SHUTTING IT DOWN!

Backpacking

I mentioned a navajo backpack is my mission for this spring but there hasn't been one that has caught my eye. However, a simple mutedly toned backpack iss equally a priority on my wish-list. Here's a few which have caught my eye and I'm currently doing a pros and cons list in my head!

1. Acne Morab Nylon and Suede Backpack, $700, available at Acne.
2. Theyskens Theory Backpack, $575, available at Theory.
3. Pierre Hardy Contrast Neoprene Backpack, $1,650, available at Net-a-Porter.
4. Topshop Gray Jersey Backpack, $50, available at Topshop.
